NSW:Hanson in court tomorrow to try to reverse defamation ruling

SYDNEY, Feb 19 AAP - A day after announcing her political comeback attempt, One Nationfounder Pauline Hanson will tomorrow try to have a defamation decision against her struckout in the NSW Supreme Court.

Her former adviser, David Oldfield, sued Ms Hanson for defamation and won a judgmentagainst her in November last year by default.

"She ignored it to such a degree that I actually got a judgment against her becauseshe failed to make any appearance of any kind and the lawyers acting on her behalf failedto make any appearance," Mr Oldfield told AAP.

A trial to determine damages is scheduled for March 10 and 11.

It is this trial Ms Hanson is seeking to prevent by having the judgment set aside toenable her to contest the original case.

"She will have to appear and be cross-examined, so it's going to be a real circus,"

Mr Oldfield said.

Ms Hanson confirmed she had briefed new solicitors in NSW to file a motion tomorrowbut said she would not be appearing in court.

"No, not tomorrow. There's no need for me to be there," she told AAP.

"There's no case to answer."

The Queensland-based solicitors who acted for her never turned up to court for theoriginal matter, she said.

"My solicitors up there didn't inform me that this was actually happening.

"A summons was not served on me.

"I didn't even know that the court case was on until the media rang me that afternoonto tell me and I said `What?'

"So that's why I had to get a solicitor down here and have that decision overturned."

Ms Hanson, who has moved from Queensland to Sydney's Sylvania Waters, confirmed todayshe will run for the NSW Upper House, assuring voters she had nothing to do with the partyshe founded, One Nation.
